Robert Zeller is a professional artist and writer. Zeller received a BFA from the Boston Museum School and Tufts University and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. In addition, he continued his study of classical form with the sculptor Sabin Howard. He also attended the Water Street Atelier with Jacob Collins, completing the program in 2 years.
He is the recipient of two Posey Fellowships in 1998 and 2000, respectively, and won a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2007. In January 2009, he founded the Teaching Studios of Art, a school devoted to teaching tractional techniques to artists of all ages and skill levels. Zeller has exhibited in Los Angeles, Houston, and Paris. Additionally, he has had solo shows in NYC at 511 Gallery and Dacia Gallery.
He has studied the figure extensively, and his work explores narratives related to the human form. He has been quoted or written about in several national publications regarding Teaching Studios, such as American Artist and Studios magazines. In 2014, he was the subject of a feature profile in Professional Artist Magazine. He has written a book about the Figure for Monacelli Press, called The Figurative Artist's Handbook which was released to the public in March 2017.
