For over 18 years, art has been Mary Ross Buchholz's devotion. She offers a glimpse of the animals and people around her often using the most primitive of mediums, charcoal, and graphite. It is the striking beauty of her pieces with the softly rendered detail that captivates and intrigues her audience.
Buchholz has participated in many museum shows across the country including Cowgirl Up! At the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, AZ, Night of Artists at the Briscoe Museum in San Antonio, TX, The Russell at the CM Russell Museum in Great Falls, MT, and Small Works Great Wonders at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.
Recognition has come quickly as she has won numerous awards that include “Best Drawing Award” in the 2015 Traveling the West Show & Sale in Dallas, TX, “Artists’ Choice” at the 2010 Heart of the West Show at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame & Museum in Ft. Worth, TX to being selected as “Signature Artist” for the 2012 American Quarter Horse Association: America's Horse in Art Commemorative Piece, the “Western Art Collector Merit Award” at the 2013 Scottsdale Salon Show. Buchholz was selected as the winner of the “Western Art Collector Award of Excellence” in the 2014 ARC Art Renewal Center Salon competition and as a finalist in the 2015,2016/2017 ARC Salon Competition.
