Photographers that are looking for an easy alternative to traditional black and white film might want to give Ilford XP-2 a try. I've been using this film since 2003 and find the quality to be exceptional, and it scans beautifully using Digital ICE. When I scan my negatives with my Nikon Coolscan 5000ED, I use setting 1 for film grain which gives a nice smoothness to the image without losing sharpness. I've blown prints up to well over 16x20 that are super sharp with beautiful grayscale values. The photograph above was taken at an Alexa Joel concert in Albany, NY with a Leica M6 and Ilford XP-2 film (2003).
